List of Clinical Trials

Q. Where's the best place to find a listing of clinical trials? Online? In print? At a doctor's office?

A. Information on clinical trials is best found on the website: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/clinicaltrials.html. This site will also take you to the National Institute of Health Clinical Research Volunteer Program and the Patient Recruitment for Clinical Studies at NIH sites. The home page also breaks down trials into specific clinical conditions. You can also go directly to ClinicalTrials.gov at the NIH. Keep in mind that many clinical trials have quite stringent entry criteria, and that entry into the study does not always guarantee active treatment--some studies utilize placebo groups (patients given inactive control substances).
