    Question: I am a Psych NP (Nurse Practitioner) student and have just done a presentation on Tourette's. A question posed to me was "How reliable are neurological soft signs in distinguishing Tourette's from Organic Brain Disorder?" The questioner stated that she was assessing a 7-year-old boy for elective surgery and had reported to the child's mother that he had facial tics...    Dr. Pies' Answer

    Question: I have a 9-year-old son who has severe autism. I came across a study on Trexan (by Jaak Panksep of Bolling Green University, Ohio) for self injurious behavior (SIB). I was grateful it worked for the SIB at a low dose. Since he has grown, should Trexan be increased to accommodate his growth or will a higher dose defeat the help it has already given?    Dr. Pies' Answer
