Question: I am a special education teacher and I work with a student who self injures, pulls out individual hairs, scratches off skin flakes, and recently he has been eating the skin flakes. His only diagnosis is ADHD and he is on Ritalin. He stares a lot, shows very narrow interest in topics (guns and army equipment), and has great difficulty completing any written assignments. Math concepts are especially difficult. His mother says "That's just the way he is." She has taken him to a psychiatrist and reports the doctor states it's just a school anxiety problem. How can I help this boy? What does the eating signify?    Dr. Pies' Answer

Question: I am very sexually attracted to women I'm not in a relationship with, but I have trouble thinking of women I am dating in a sexual manner. I am currently in a long-term relationship with a very attractive woman that I want to have a good sex life with, but I have trouble being sexually excited when we try to have sex. I have an interest in pornography. An older boy tried to sexually abuse me when I was 5, and I grew up not seeing any evidence of a sexual relationship between my parents. Is there a specific name for this disorder where you can see women as sexual objects but not view your wife/girlfriend in a sexual manner?    Dr. Pies' Answer

Question: I don't know where to turn. I am convinced my daughter-in-law has both Munchausen's and Munchausen's by Proxy. We have involved the Department of Social Services and spoken with the many doctors and hospitals where she has taken her children...    Dr. Pies' Answer
