Question:   I need some advice, I fell off of a horse about 3 weeks ago. I had fallen onto a split rail fence. When I got to the ER the X-ray showed that I had 2 broken ribs. This has been very painful. How long will it take before they stop hurting so much and when they will they heal? Also I am not sure if the fall caused this problem or not, but my stomach has been giving me problems ever since. I started throwing up and have been doing so almost ever since. I have lost 14 pounds. I'm planning on visiting a gastro doctor this week.    Dr. McLaughlin's Answer

Question:   I am lactose intolerant. I was recently written a prescription for a medication that has lactose in it. If I take this medication, will I be affected the same way as when I eat dairy products without using Lactaid?    Dr. McLaughlin's Answer

Question:   I have been diagnosed with labrynthitis. I am aware that it has to do with an inflamed nerve intersecting the inner ear, since I can sometimes hear the nerve pulse (which makes me dizzy). What causes this? What kind of treatment can be given to alleviate it? I've also noticed that I am sensitive to light--my vision starts to "white out" for a few seconds. Additionally, during these episodes I am extremely lethargic, tired and it seems like I can't think correctly either. It has been an intermittent problem for 6 weeks and disrupts my life until it subsides. I won't take bonine (that makes me feel worse) or antivert...I don't want to be in a drug-induced haze where all I can do is sleep. Is there anything else that can be done? Thanks in advance for your time and consideration!    Dr. McLaughlin's Answer
